, funded by the European Union, is an international
research-related project with focus on the use of GNSS (Global
Navigation Satellite Systems) for Earth Observation in a more general
sense. Within the project novel GNSS applications with outstanding
social importance are identified. These applications can be classified
in nine Social Benefit Areas (SBA), which address the current crucial
problems of mankind: disasters, health, energy, climate, water,
weather, ecosystems, agriculture, biodiversity
The 2nd Gfg² summer school  was held July 1-3, 2013 at GFZ Potsdam. More than 40 students and 10 lectures from 16 countries participated in this major Gfg² event.
Main focus of the lectures were:
1) Basic principles of GNSS
2) GNSS radio occultation and related applications
3) Ground based GNSS meteorology and weather forecast
4) GNSS reflectometry and related applications.
